General medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. The doctors specializing in internal medicine are called general physicians. General Physicians are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes, care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching and research. Internal medicine patients are often not very seriously ill and do not require complex investigations. Internal medicine is also a specialty within a clinical pharmacy. Treatments Available For

Blood Pressure Problems

Blood pressure (BP) is the pressure of circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels. Blood pressure usually refers to the pressure in large arteries of the systemic circulation. It is usually expressed in terms of the systolic pressure (maximum during one heartbeat) over diastolic pressure (minimum in between two heartbeats) and is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg), above the surrounding atmospheric pressure. Blood pressure is one of the vital signs, along with the respiratory rate, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature to measure the healthiness of the human body. Normal resting blood pressure in an adult is approximately 120/80 mmHg. For regular health and heart checkups, schedule a visit with us.

Thyroid Problems

Thyroid disease is a medical condition that affects the function of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located at the front of the neck and produces thyroid hormones that travel through the blood to help regulate many other organs. These hormones normally act in the body to regulate energy use, infant development, and childhood development. The treatment of thyroid disease varies based on the disorder. Levothyroxine, iodine therapy, antithyroid medication, or surgical removal of the thyroid gland are some forms of treatment for hypo or hyperthyroidism. Thyroid surgery may also be performed to remove a thyroid nodule or to reduce the size of a goiter if it obstructs nearby structures or for cosmetic reasons. For thyroid related problems, schedule a visit with us.

Fever

Fever is when a human’s body temperature goes above the normal range of 36–37° Centigrade. It is a common medical sign and other terms for fever include pyrexia and controlled hyperthermia. As the body temperature goes up, the person may feel cold until it levels off and stops rising. A high body temperature, or fever, is one of the ways our immune system attempts to combat an infection. Usually, the rise in body temperature helps the individual resolve an infection, but sometimes it may rise too high, in which case, the fever can be serious and lead to complications. The symptoms of a fever may include: feeling cold when nobody else does, shivering, lack of appetite, dehydration, depression, hyperalgesia, or increased sensitivity to pain, lethargy, problems concentrating, sleepiness, sweating. For fever and other common ailments, schedule a visit with us.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea, or diarrhea, is the condition of having three or more loose or liquid bowel movements each day. Diarrhea can last for a few days and can result in dehydration due to fluid loss. Signs of dehydration often begin with loss of the normal stretchiness of the skin and irritable behavior which can then progress to decreased urination, loss of skin color, a fast heart rate, and a decrease in responsiveness as it becomes more severe. Non-watery but loose stools, however, are common among babies whose sole source of sustenance is breastfeeding. For frequent bouts of diarrhea or irritable bowels, schedule a visit with us.

Anemia

Anemia is a decrease in the total red blood cells (RBCs) or hemoglobin count in the blood, or a lowered ability of the blood to carry oxygen. Initially, the symptoms are often vague and may include feeling tired, weakness, shortness of breath or a poor ability to exercise. Anemia that comes on quickly often has greater symptoms, which may include confusion, the feeling of passing out, loss of consciousness, or increased thirst. Anemia has to be extremely severe before the skin of a person becomes noticeably pale. If you feel you are suffering from the above symptoms or need to get your blood count tests, schedule a visit with us.
