Radiology is the medical specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the human body. Diagnostic Radiology at Lokmanya hospitals offers all radiology related services under one roof. The radiology department is well supported by excellent and highly qualified doctors with technology at its best.

Types of Treatments

USG

USG, also known as ultrasonography or ultrasound scan, is a safe and non-invasive procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create live pictures from the inside of the body. Ultrasound scanning is often performed on pregnant women to assess the health of the baby, but apart from pregnancy, it is also used in gauging any condition that causes pain, swelling or other symptoms that require a view of your internal organs. Ultrasound helps surgeons to guide them while performing biopsies and other surgical procedures. For ultrasonography and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.

2D Echo/Echocardiography

An echocardiogram often referred to as a cardiac echo or simply an echo is a sonogram of the heart. Echocardiography uses standard two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and Doppler ultrasound to create images of the heart. Echocardiography is one of the most widely used tests in the diagnosis, management, and the follow-up of patients with any suspected or known heart diseases. It is useful in providing a lot of important information including the size and shape of the heart, pumping capacity, and the location and extent of any tissue damage. An echocardiogram can also give physicians other estimates of heart function, such as a calculation of the cardiac output, ejection fraction, and diastolic function. For Echocardiography and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.

Doppler Ultrasonography

Doppler ultrasonography is medical ultrasonography that employs the Doppler effect to generate imaging of the movement of tissues and body fluids and their relative velocity to the probe. With Doppler ultrasonography, the speed and direction can be determined and visualized. Colour Doppler or colour flow Doppler is the presentation of the velocity by a colour scale. Colour Doppler images are generally combined with grayscale images to display duplex ultrasonography images, allowing for simultaneous visualization of the anatomy of the area. For Doppler ultrasonography and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.

X-ray

X-rays are a type of radiation called electromagnetic waves and create pictures of the inside of the body in different shades of black and white. X Rays work on the concept that different tissues absorb different amounts of radiation. Calcium in bones absorbs x-rays the most, so bones look white. Fat and other soft tissues absorb less and look grey. Air absorbs the least, so lungs look black. The most familiar use of x-rays is checking for broken bones, but x-rays are also used in other ways such as for spotting pneumonia, or to detect breast cancer. For X-Ray and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.

DEXA

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, also known as DEXA or DXA is a means of measuring bone mineral density (BMD). Two X-ray beams, with different energy levels, are aimed at the patient’s bones. After the subtraction of soft tissue absorption, the bone mineral density (BMD) can be determined from the absorption of each beam by bone. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is the most used and most thoroughly studied bone density measurement technology. The DXA scan is typically used to diagnose and follow osteoporosis, as contrasted to the nuclear bone scan. For DEXA scan and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.

CT Scan

A CT scan, also known as computed tomography scan, and formerly known as a computerized axial tomography scan or CAT scan, uses computer-processed combinations of many X-ray measurements taken from different angles to produce cross-sectional (tomographic) images of specific areas of the scanned body part. Digital geometry processing is used to further generate a three-dimensional volume of the inside of the body from a large series of two-dimensional radiographic images taken around a single axis of rotation. Medical imaging is the most common application of X-ray CT. Its cross-sectional images are used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in various medical disciplines. For CT scan and other diagnostic tests, schedule an appointment with us.
